Malaysian Lawn Bowler Nor Hashimah Settles For Bronze In World Cup Singles C'ships

KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysian lawn bowler Nor Hashimah Ismail had to settle for the bronze medal at the 2017 World Cup Singles Championships in New South Wales, Australia after losing her match in the semifinals. In the semifinals played at the Warilla Bowls and Recreational Club in New South Wales, Australia, Nor Hshimah, 45, lost to New Zealand's four-time world champion, Jo Edwards 2-10, 5-9. Edwards will now face Lucy Beere from Guernsey in the final on Wednesday. Beere booked her ticket to the final after beating Australia's Natasha Scott 8-7, 9-5. Meanwhile, another Malaysian, Mohd Soufi Rusli, who plays in the men's category will face Ali Forysth from New Zealand in the semifinals on Wednesday. For the record, Malaysia have won both the men's and women's categories in the annual tournament through Safuan Said in 2008 and Siti Zalina Ahmad in 2015. -- BERNAMA
