'Rising Together Baton Run' Continues In Yangon On Saturday
PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), March 23 (Bernama) -- The 'Rising Together Baton Run' held to instill spirit of unity and togetherness for the 29th SEA Games and 9th ASEAN Para Games (KL 2017), will continue in Yangon, Myanmar on March 25.
According to a statement from the Malaysian SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC), Yangon is the fourth destination in a series of 10 cities for the run.
"It (the run) is expected to begin at 7am and will be for 11 kilometres around the city of Yangon. It will start from the Bahan Playground and end at the U Wisara-Ahlone Road intersection. The participants will pass through iconic monuments in the country such as the Shwedagon Pagoda and Aung San Memorial Stadium," the statement added.
MASOC said Myanmar's long-distance runner San Naing will lead the run from the first checkpoint.
"Myanmar will also feature para-athlete Kyaw Kyaw Win who will be the last runner before the baton arrives at the finish line," the statement added.
Brunei, Philippines and Laos have already hosted the Baton Run.
