SHEIKH-UL-ISLAM ALLAHSHUKUR PASHAZADE MEETS WITH PATRIARCH KIRILL OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA

Baku, February 4 (AzerTAc). Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, head of the
Muslim Board for the Caucasus and leader of the Muslims in Trans-Caucasus, met with
the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
At the meeting in residence of the Patriarch, the Head of the Muslim Board for the
Caucasus in his salutatory speech conveyed congratulations in connection with
election to the throne. He noticed that Patriarch Kirill all life served religion
and tried that between religious leaders was established peace, brotherhood and
friendship.
“I would also convey you greetings and congratulations on behalf of the President of
Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev”, the Sheikh said, having extended the congratulations also
by all Moslems of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus. A. Pashazade expressed hope of the
further meetings and invited the Patriarch to visit Baku. He also expressed
confidence that will continue the teamwork for the welfare of the two peoples, two
countries and the believers.
The Patriarch expressed confidence that the peace, consent and stability in the
world will depend in many respects on how relations between the Christians and
Moslems will be built.
“And in this sense, experience of interaction of the Russian Orthodox Church with
Moslems including with Moslems of the Caucasus, whom you so remarkably represent,
including Moslems of Azerbaijan, is unique”, he told.
Patriarch Kirill also highly appreciated activity of the Orthodox eparchy in
Azerbaijan, having noticed that the Father Alexander always acts as very convincing
lawyer who supports both the relations and cooperation between the Orthodox and
Moslems, and the Russian-Azerbaijani relations.
“I would like to thank the Azerbaijani state for the invariable kind and attentive
relation to Orthodox people living n your blessed country”, the Patriarch of Moscow
and All Russia Kirill told.
