Germany Offers Opportunities For Malaysian ICT Companies, Says Matrade

By Manik Mehta FRANKFURT, March 31 (Bernama) -- Germany's information and communications technology (ICT) market is inherent with good potential for Malaysian ICT companies which can seize business opportunities unfolding with the demand in the country. "Germany is Europe's largest ICT market representing some 20.6 per cent of the total European Union's market for ICT products and services. "It is also the world's fifth largest market accounting some 4.3 per cent of the global ICT market with a market value reaching 157 billion euros in 2014," Director, Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation in Frankfurt, Badrul Hisham Hilal told Bernama. He said Malaysian ICT companies under the Export Acceleration Mission to Germany made a strong pitch at the recent computer expo, CeBIT 2017, in Hanover. "The world's largest computer exhibition attracted about 200,000 trade visitors, annually, during its five-day run which ended on March 24," he said. Malaysia's participation at the CeBIT exhibition was represented Custommedia, Emgraft Systems, K-One Technology, Kyrol Security Labs, Malaysia Software Testing Board, SVI Technologies, Telekom Malaysia and Cyberview. High-ranking officials from the International Trade and Industry Ministry as well as representative from the state governments of Sabah and Selangor were also present. Some of the Malaysian companies at the CeBIT exhibition in Hannover met German customers whom they had already met previously at different shows such as the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (Gitex) show of Dubai, Badrul Hisham said. He said representatives of some of the German companies had indicated that they were considering setting up data centres abroad. "Malaysia offers well-developed infrastructure and a business-friendly environment for companies interested in setting up such data centres. "We are pitching German companies to look at Malaysia," he added. -- BERNAMA
