Malaysia Strike Three Gold At Para Archery World Ranking Tournament
KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- The national para archery squad showcased a sizzling performance by winning three gold medals on the final day of the 2017 Para Archery World Ranking Event Championship in Bangkok, Thailand Friday.
The pair of Ahmad Jaffry Jamaluddin/Rozana Mail secured Malaysia's first gold medal by defeating the hosts pair of Boonyarit Chaipoon/Wasana Khuthawisap 6-2 in the final match of the recurve open mixed team event held at Hua Mark Archery Field, according to the Archery Thailand's website www.archerythai.com.
Malaysia's second gold medal was contributed by the pair of M.Komoran/Noor Saadah Abdul Wahab after they beat another hosts pair, Anon Aungaphinan/Rhomshalee Katemongkon 142-138 in the final match in the compound open mixed team event.
Ahmad Jaffry claimed his second gold medal in the tournament after securing a comfortable 7-1 win over South Korean archer, Shim Sang Wook in the recurve men open event.
World powerhouse, South Korea emerged as overall champion with 4 gold, 2 silver and a bronze, followed by Malaysia (3-3-2) while Thailand came in third with 1 gold, three silver and two bronze medal.
Thirty-nine archers from seven Asian countries took part in the five-day meet which began on March 27.
