Singapore Leaders Convey Condolences To Russia

By Massita Ahmad SINGAPORE, April 5 (Bernama) -- Singapore leaders conveyed condolences to Russia following a terror attack at St Petersburg metro that killed 11 people on Monday. "On behalf of the people of Singapore, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish those injured a speedy recovery," said Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam in a letter to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The letter was made available to Malaysia's national news agency Bernama. "Singapore strongly condemns this barbaric act of terror, and stands in solidarity with the people of Russia at this difficult time," he said. Besides the 11 casualties, dozens more injured as an explosion rocked the St Petersburg metro, in what the Russian authorities described as an "act of terror". Meanwhile, in a letter to Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that Singapore strongly condemned the senseless act of terror and stands in solidarity with Russia. "On behalf of the Government of Singapore, I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a quick recovery," he said. -- BERNAMA
