CORRECTING NAME OF AIRWAYS MAS TO SIGN CODE-SHARE DEAL WITH JET AIRWAYS
SEPANG, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) plans to sign
code-share agreement with Jet Airways that will connect destinations in
India next month, said managing director/chief executive officer, Idris Jala.
He said it was important to increase and consolidate the code-share deals
and to help both airlines during this difficult time.
"We will be finalising the deal soon, probably by next month," he said at
Media Appreciation Night 2009 presented by Sepang Gold Coast Sdn Bhd and MAS,
the national carrier.
MAS has nearly 30 code-share agreements and partnerships with major
partners.
Idris said in order to provide more choices for international flights, MAS
would introduce more value packages for customers.
"During this difficult time, we can't have one package to fit all. We will
announce the value packages this month," he said.
On another note, he expected global economic slowdown to have negative
impact on the industry in the next few months.
"Globally, there is a reduction in demand with Europe the hardest hit. I
think it is just the beginning. The effects will show in the next few months,"
he said.
