THAI, Bangkok Airways cooperate to strengthen airline industry

BANGKOK, April 10 (TNA) -- Thailand's national flag carrier Thai Airways International or THAI has joined hands with Bangkok Airways to strengthen the country's aviation business sector in response to the government's plan to turn Thailand into an aviation hub in ASEAN. Acting THAI President Ms Usanee Sangsingkeo and President of Bangkok Airways Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth inked a codeshare agreement with an aim to strengthen the aviation network to cater to the expansion of the industry, as well as to increase convenience for passengers in using flights from both airlines at once. Ms Usanee said THAI and Bangkok Airways have been business alliances for the past two decades and the agreement signed this time around would not only help strengthen the industry but also promote the economy and tourism, reeling in more income and attracting more tourists to the country. It would also help to promote Thailand's strong point in line with the government's policy to turn Thailand into an aviation hub within the ASEAN region. Bangkok Airways president, on the other hand, expressed that the cooperation would help to increase the number of passengers on both airlines, while also help to increase new routes in the future. The codeshare covers Bangkok Airways' 10 domestic flights and four international flights, though other flights area also being considered for the codesharing. (TNA)
