Concert celebrating centenary of Jevdet Hajiyev held in New York

Baku, April 11, AZERTAC Carnegie Hall in New York City, United States, has hosted a concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of outstanding Azerbaijani composer and educator, Jevdet Hajiyev. The concert included works by Hajiyev, and featured young pianists from around the world performing Alexander Peskanov’s Spring Concerto and Azery Rhapsody. Performers included Bogdan Petrenko (Baritone), Jelena Makarova, Melanie Richardson, Kenny Ji, Roopa Ranganath, Kseniya Yanchuk, Ashley Ondoua Konga, Julia Meyerding, and Makayla Duyen Vu (Piano), Elvin Hoxha Ganiev and Esther Muradov (Violin), Sabrina Ozden (Soprano), BMTG Chamber Ensemble. Jeffrey Werbock performed on tar and kamancha as a guest artist. The performance was conducted by Miriam Burns. Azerbaijan`s delegation at the event was headed by Permanent Representative to the United Nations Yashar Aliyev and Permanent Observer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations Agshin Mehdiyev. In his remarks following the concert, Yashar Aliyev said the concert will contribute to the expansion of cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and the USA, the East and the West.
