National Boxing Squad Hungry For Medals In KL Sea Games

KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- The national boxing squad is determined to contribute medals to the country in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games to redeem their disappointing performance at the 2015 edition in Singapore. National boxing squad manager Datuk Rahman Lariwoo is confident of improving their medal haul based on the intensive preparations carried out by national boxers. He said as the final preparation for SEA Games, the country's boxers would be sent for training in Kazakhstan and would participate in an international championships in Uzbekistan from April 28 to May 8 followed by another competition in Azerbaijan from May 10-19. "We are fully prepared for the SEA Games. They (boxers) will be living in Kazakhstan from May to July and will join the Asian Boxing Confederation Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. "Kazakhstan is a country which produces many good boxers apart from the high coaching quality would benefit Malaysian boxers," he said. He was speaking to reporters after a media conference on 'Kita Juara 2017' with the boxing squad at the National Sports Council (MSN) here Wednesday. -- BERNAMA
