Savannakhet grows rice on 9,000 ha this season
(KPL) Rice transplantation in Savannakhet province is done 9,000 ha of which, 500 ha were done through sowing method.
Taking the lead in transplantation is Saybury, district where 2,000 ha have been transplanted. This is followed by Songkone district- 1,700 ha, Sayphouthong over 1,000 ha, Sonboury 800 ha and Champhone 800 ha.
Initially, Phalansay district planned to grow rice on 100 ha but the plan was suspended due to lack of irrigated water.
The rice transplantation in all districts is expected to be completed at the end of this month. Besides rice plantation, the people in each areas of Savannakhet will concentrate to plant the cash crops for their own consumption and export.
