Special Events In Conjunction With Installation Ceremony Of 15th Malaysia's King

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Several special events have been lined up in conjunction with the installation ceremony of the 15th Malaysia’s King Sultan Muhammad V on April 24. Assistant Grand Chamberlain at Istana Negara (National Palace), Azuan Effendi Zairakithnaini said, the installation ceremony would take place at the Balairung Seri, Istana Negara, at 9.30am on April 24 and expected to be attended by 800 invited guests including the state rulers and governors. The event will be attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the chief ministers, Cabinet ministers, members of parliament, senators and senior government officers. “This ceremony is by invitation only. The people can be a part of history as the government has declared April 24 a public holiday. “The people can be by the roadside waving to the rulers and governors as they make their way to the Istana Negara. Let us celebrate this special event and make this as a celebration of the country’s greatness. We need to be involved to support the institution of the Malaysia’s King,” he told Bernama recently. Azuan said in the evening (April 24), there would be a royal banquet to be held at the Banquet Hall, Istana Negara, from 8 pm and will be attended by 650 guests. Besides the two major events, the other events will also be held as early as on Thursday with the recital of Yassin and special prayers at Putra Mosque in Putrajaya (the Malaysia’s federal administrative capital), to be attended by Sultan Muhammad V and accompanied by Najib, Zahid and about 2,000 others. On April 28, there will be special Friday prayer sermon at the same mosque. The final event would be the ‘Raja Kita’ (‘Our King’) Exhibition, to be held at the Royal Museum in Kuala Lumpur on May 2 from 10 am with 500 invited dignitaries. "On May 2, the event is limited to invited guests only, however, on May 3, the exhibition will be open to the public so everyone can come to view the exhibits on display and I understand that the National Museum will open the show for four months. "There is a huge collection of Malaysia’s king on display there apart from information and stories about the institution. It is a good platform for us to strengthen our understanding of the institution of the Malaysia’s king," he said. Meanwhile, rehearsals for the installation ceremony will be held on Thursday and Friday, while the Royal Banquet’s rehearsal to be held on Friday and Saturday and rehearsals for ‘Raja Kita’ Exhibition will be held on April 27 and May 1. --BERNAMA
