Two Bangladeshi Workers Killed In Landslide In Hulu Langat

KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- Two Bangladeshi construction workers were killed in a landslide when a hill slope collapsed near the shared ‘kongsi’ house they were living in at Batu 12 Jalan Hulu Langat, early this morning. The victims identified as Rana, 40, and Masudrana, 22, died after being buried under mounds of earth while sleeping in two separate rooms at the ‘kongsi’ house. Kajang Fire and Rescue Station Operations head, Ahmad Hisham Abdul Rahman said the incident was caused by heavy rainfall at about 2am. Another worker also broke his leg in the incident. "There were four persons in two rooms of the ‘kongsi’ house involved in the incident. Two victims were buried in the landslide covering 18 square metres while two others survived. "The buried victims were removed by their friends before firefighters arrived and were pronounced dead by a medical personnel," he said when contacted by Bernama here. Ahmad Hisham said they received a report about the incident at about 4.09am before a fire-engine with six personnel and officers from the Kajang Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene. "The bodies were handed over to the police for further action," he said. -- BERNAMA
