ISESCO DIRECTOR GENERAL TO ATTEND OPENING CEREMONY OF BAKU - CAPITAL OF ISLAMIC CULTURE 2009
Baku, January 6 (AzerTAc). A solemn ceremony on the occasion of declaration of Baku
as the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2009 will be held here at Heydar Aliyev Palace
On February 19. Mayors of several European and Islamic cities as well as ministers
of culture have been invited to the ceremony. ISESCO Director General Dr Abdulaziz
Othman Altwaijri will also attend the event.
The ceremony will also feature the launch of website of Baku - the Capital of
Islamic Culture in 2009 and book “Old Baku”.
Baku was announced the capital of Islamic Culture in 2009 during the fifth
conference of ISESCO countries held in Tripoli, Libya on 21-23 November in 2007.
