KOTA BHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia) April 25 (Bernama) – Kelantanese of various races, religions and walks of life Sunday expressed joy over the installation of the King of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Malaysia’s King, Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur Monday. Kelantan Federal Action Council chairman Mustapa Mohamed said the King who is known for his great concern for the people, would be able to bring more prosperity to Kelantan and Malaysia. “The people of Kelantan are very happy. We all know the King as a caring ruler whose humble personality brings him closer to his subject,” he said. Mustapa, who is Minister of International Trade and Industry, also expressed hope that under the rule of Sultan Muhammad V, the development of the state, in all sectors, would be on par with other states. Kelantan Justice of the Peace executive council member Mohd Rosdi Ab Aziz said the King, who is a person with vast knowledge, great wisdom and personality, is indeed an inspiration to the people. Rosdi is confident that with his great wisdom and leadership qualities, the King would be able to steer the country towards better times ahead. He said with the installation of Sultan Muhammad V as the Malaysia’s King Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sunday, it would give him more power to protect and care for the people as how he had been doing in Kelantan. "We have all marvelled at his skill in giving profound and out-of-the-box ideas when discussing on the development of the state for the welfare of the people and he is able to talk on whatever issues raised," he said. Kelantan Siamese Community Association chairman Prof Tim Chau Dam said although the Siamese in Kelantan numbered only about 18,000, they had pledged him their loyalty as King of the country. "I don’t know the King personally, but I gather much especially through social media, that he is friendly, full of simplicity and often disregards protocols when meeting the people," he said. Meanwhile, Kelantan Indian Physical and Cultural Society chairman Ganthi Raja Perumal said although Sultan Muhammad V is known to be a devout Muslim, he is confident that His Majesty would maintain the sanctity of the religions professed by other races in the country. “His Majesty is seen as a leader who cares about the people regardless of race and religion, and always able to mingle freely with the people. “The Hindu community is confident under His Majesty’s rule, the economic situation in the country will improve,” he said. For Kelantan footballer Nik Mohd Shahrul Azim Abd Halim, he hoped Sultan Muhammad V would contribute fresh ideas to bring about positive changes to sports development, especially football, in the country. -- BERNAMA
