Chinese business delegation to visit Thailand

BANGKOK, May 5 (TNA) - A delegation of Chinese business operators is scheduled to visit Thailand early next week to explore their opportunities on expanding their investment in the Thai economy, especially in the government-supported Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Thai Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana, in his capacity as the chair of a government committee tasked with the development and management of EEC, was reported at a meeting of the committee on May 4 that the over 60-member Chinese business delegation, under the umbrella of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, will visit Thailand to take part in a forum to be organized at the Plaza Athenee Bangkok Hotel on May 8. The forum is aimed to brief the Chinese business delegation on details and opportunities of their investment in the Thai Kingdom, especially in EEC, where they have expressed their interest in investing in aviation, seaport and waste management projects. The upcoming trip to Thailand by the Chinese business delegation follows a recent roadshow in Hong Kong by a Thai business delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak. The business discussion will also cover a planned joint investment in EEC between the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and the EEC office. During their stay in Thailand, the Chinese business delegation is also scheduled to meet Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha. (TNA)
