MAJOR THREAT OF RECOVERY IS IMPLEMENTATION PACE
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The major threat of the global economic recovery is the implementation pace of stimulus packages and restructuring of the banking sector in countries where the crisis originated.
International Monetary Fund managing director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, said
there was still room to provide more liquidity but not so much.
"The major threat is both (restructuring of the banking sector and
implementation of stimulus packages) will not go at the same pace.
"Although many announcements on restructuring and stimulus have been made,
the implementation, however, takes time," he said at a press conference here
Saturday.
He said Asian banks in general were stronger than before.
"They are in a good shape. So, when (the global economy recovers) Asia will
be in a good position," he said.
