Sekong fork out billions kip for road construction

(KPL) The southern province of Sekong will use this year about 10 billion kip of state budget to upgrade 10 roads with 7 km in the chief town of the province. This will be a part of preparation to celebrate 25th anniversary founding of the province.
Last year, the province has spent 3.53 billion kip to repair a number lanes with 3 km.
Mr. Khounma Sayasane, Head of Transport and Public Work of Sekong province disclosed recently that the improvement of roads in the province has urgently operated and needed around 12.5 billion kip to reconstruct 10 roads.
He said that the province will also spend about US$ 12 million access and improve the road from Kalam district to the border of Vietnam with 154 km long, to upgrade the road from Dakcheung to Sekong, phase II with 100 km. In the meantime, the road from Ban Lakai-Kalam with 11 km will be also improved.
Besides the state and provincial budget, the grant aid from international organization was also mobilized to use for communication development, Mr. Khounma added .
By this year, the SIDA will provide 1,210
million kip to improve 7 roads in the remote areas with 29 km long while the Japanese government supported US$ 4 million for road No.1H from Thataeng-Sekong-Ban Beng with 18 km.
