UAE, Florida sign health agreement

Abu Dhabi, February 10, 2009 (WAM) - The UAE Ministry of Health and Florida Department of Health yesterday signed agreement on cooperation on medical research, continuous medical learning, training as well as the exchange of information on diseases.

The agreement was signed at the premises of the Ministry in Abu Dhabi in presence of UAE Health Minister Humaid Mohammed Al Qattami, United States Ambassador to the UAE Richard J. Olsen and Governor of Orange County, Florida, Charlie Crist.

Cooperation between the two sides will be compliant with regulations adopted in the United States and its globally accredited health and medical institutions such as blood banks and the Florida Department of Health.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate on researches on stem cells and umbilical-cord blood as well as on blood transfusion, blood banking, non-viral diseases and blood-carried diseases.
