MUSLIMS NEED NEW SURVIVAL STRATEGY - STATE CM
KUCHING (Malaysia), Feb 11 (Bernama) -- East Malaysia state of Sarawak
Chief Minister
Abdul Taib Mahmud has called on Muslim scholars to formulate a strategy for
Muslims to excel in the era of globalisation.
He said the strategy should ensure the survival of Muslims in the face
globalisation as religion was not merely for propagation.
"Ideally, the strategy should focus on the development of a comprehensive
education by integrating Islam with other disciplines such as science.
"We should not segregate Islam from the development in the latest field of
knowledge. Otherwise, Muslims will be left behind," he said when opening the
three-day Sarawak Islamic Congress here Wednesday.
Abdul Taib called on Islamic teachers in the state to get closer to the
grassroots to win their hearts to get closer to Islam.
