FATMAWATI HOSPITAL ADMITTED 570 DENGUE PATIENTS SINCE JANUARY

Jakarta, Feb 12 (ANTARA) - A total of 570 dengue fever patients have been admitted to Fatmawati Hospital in South Jakarta since January this year.

According to a data from the hospital, 427 dengue patients were treated at the hospital in January and 143 new ones as of February 12, 2009.
But the figure in fact declined from the same period last year which was recorded at 760 patients.
Chief of Fatmawati Hospital Atom Kadam said here on Thursday that the decline was due to the people's awareness of the way how to prevent the spread of dengue fever.
However, Atom Kadam added that the hospital would continue to anticipate the rising number of dengue patients at the end of rainy season early this year.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Health Office chief Dien Emmawati said here on Wednesday a total of 2,940 dengue patients were being treated at present in several hospitals in the capital city.
But he said the number was less that that in 2008 when 3,100 patients were admitted to hospitals in Jakarta.
He added that from January to February this year five people have died of dengue fever in Jakarta. One of them was Muhammad Ridho (10 moths) who died at Kramat Jati Police Hospital on Saturday, February 7, 2009.
