Qatar Participates in 22nd Session of World Petroleum Congress in Istanbul

Istanbul, July 10 (QNA) - The State of Qatar is participating in the 22nd session of the World Petroleum Congress (WPC) which kicked off Sunday in Istanbul, Turkey, with a delegation chaired by HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada. This year's session, which will continue until Thursday, is being held under the theme "Bridges To Our Energy Future", bringing together over 5,000 delegates, including ministers and senior officials from different countries. The Congress includes round-table meetings, workshops and technical seminars on the future of the conventional and non-conventional energy resources, global policies on energy and investment opportunities in this sector. Speaking at the opening session yesterday, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said that the Congress allows discussion of issues related to the oil and gas industries. He pointed out that discussions during the Congress should stressed on the role of energy resources in establishing peace and prosperity which is contrary to what was understood in the past that energy in a reason of conflict and poverty. For his part, President of the World Petroleum Council Jozsef Toth said that the main goal of the oil sector is to provide energy at a suitable price for human development. He added that natural gas and oil will remain the world's leading energy resources for decades to come. (QNA)
