FAMA To Promote Selangor Agro-Based Products In Singapore

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) will include 172 products from Selangor entrepreneurs during its sale and promotion programme at its Agrobazaar in Singapore from July 15 to Aug 15, 2017. FAMA Board of Directors member Abdul Shukur Idrus said 42 entrepreneurs would be showcasing their products during the promotion drive. "These entrepreneurs are under the guidance of the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (People's Trust Council), FAMA and various government agencies. "The three categories of products that would be promoted at the bazaars are nasi ambeng (a fragrant rice dish popular in Selangor), tapioca-based snacks, and bubur sumsum (rice pudding with coconut milk). “Products that generate high demand among visitors would become a fixed item in the Agrobazaar menu,” he told reporters after the flag off for the ‘Selangor Products To Singapore Market’ programme at the MARA Food Industry Complex here, Wednesday. Malaysian agro-based products are popular in Singapore as they are clean and halal, Abdul Shukur said. FAMA has targetted US$1.07 million (RM4.6 million) in sales at its Agrobazaar in Singapore this year and until last year, Selangor entrepreneurs recorded US$39,157 (RM168,000) in sales. The sale and promotion will be held at three prime locations, namely the Malaysia Halal Centre@Big Box, Global Halal Hub ati Chai Chee Road, and Agrobazaar Malaysia Singapore. FAMA expects to attract 60,000 visitors during the promotion drive. A FAMA-owned entity, Agrobaazar Malaysia Singapore sells and promotes Malaysian agro-based products in the republic. -- BERNAMA
