Al Baker Stresses Qatar Airways' Ability to Expand despite Siege

Doha, July 13 (QNA) - Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said that Qatar Airways' national carrier has proved that it is capable of expanding and continuing its development path despite the siege imposed by some neighboring countries. The national carrier's CEO said in a statement on Thursday that since the beginning of the siege, Qatar Airways has achieved a number of qualitative achievements by claiming the World's Best Airline Award in addition to receiving a number of new aircraft on schedule as well as continuing expansions in the airline's operations network. He said that these achievements made by Qatar Airways during the last period confirm that the siege has failed to achieve its goals. Last month, Qatar Airways launched two new destinations for Dublin and Nice and will launch seven new destinations in the coming month, including Sohar on August 8, Prague on August 21 and other destinations to be announced soon, he added. Al Baker confirmed that the national carrier is still pursuing its request to purchase shares in American Airlines. (QNA)
