Qatar Chamber Reviews Enhancing Cooperation with Delegation from Philippines

Doha, July 22 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber (QC) met with a business delegation from the Philippines that is currently visiting Doha and discussed ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in the field of expat workers from the Philippines to Doha. Vice Chairman of QC Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Towar said that the Filipino community in Qatar was contributing to the renaissance of the State of Qatar, working efficiently in all sectors and recognized for its excellence by the Qatari society. He highlighted that QC held a meeting with President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in economy and trade fields. He stressed that the new law regulating the entry and exit of expats and their residency looks out for the rights of workers, adding that there was cooperation between QC and all the designated authorities to resolve any obstacles facing workers in Qatar. He added that the chamber was satisfied with the performance of Filipino workers in terms of quality and efficiency. For his part, Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Hans Leo Cacdac, head of the visiting delegation, said that the Filipino community expressed their satisfaction with working conditions in the State of Qatar. He also highlighted the marked progress the State of Qatar has achieved in the field of labor and providing the suitable environment for workers. He added that his country is committed to training workers before their entry into the job market through their learning of the English language as well as the laws of the State of Qatar. (QNA)
