Qatari, Turkish Companies Start Joint Projects
Doha, August 05 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced that two agreements have been signed between Qatari and Turkish companies to start joint projects.
A statement issued by the Chamber said that the signing of the two agreements was made on the sidelines of a visit by a Qatari delegation to the Turkish city of Izmir to participate in meetings with their Turkish counterparts that yielded positive results.
The Member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Chamber Mohammed Mehdi Al-Ahbabi, said that the discussions held by the Qatari delegation participating in the meetings in Turkey over the past two days had yielded fruitful results, as important agreements and partnerships had been concluded between businessmen from both sides. Today two agreements were signed between Qatari and Turkish companies to start the implementation of joint projects.
He pointed to the importance of increasing the volume of trade exchange with Turkey, and strengthening partnerships between the private sector in both countries not only on the level of exchange of goods, but for the implementation of joint industrial and productive projects. He noted in this regard that the Qatari delegation visited a number of Turkish factories and companies following the Turkish-Qatari meeting held last Thursday in Izmir.
Al-Ahbabi noted that the visit comes as a result to the joint cooperation between Qatar and Turkey in all fields. The delegation of businessmen expressed their happiness for their presence in Izmir, from which the first vessel carrying foodstuffs to Qatar was launched.
Qatar Chamber organized a visit to a delegation of Qatari businessmen to the Turkish city of Izmir in response to an invitation from the Turkish Ministry of Economy and the Turkish Exporters' Assembly. The meetings aimed at enhancing trade relations between the two countries, reviewing investment opportunities in Qatar and Turkey and possible alliances between businessmen and companies from both sides.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached $600 million in the first half of this year, while the Turkish exports to Qatar increased by 51.5% in June compared to the previous month, recording a value of $ 53.5 million.
Food products, fruits, vegetables and water topped the list of Turkish exports. (QNA)
