AirAsia Celebrates Inaugural Flight From Shenzen To Malaysia's Langkawi
LANGKAWI (Kedah, Malaysia), Aug 10 (Bernama) -- AirAsia Bhd Thursday welcomed its inaugural flight from Shenzhen to Langkawi with a 89 per cent load factor and expects the route to increase inbound guests to the island.
Chief Executive Officer, Aireen Omar said in a statement that the airline had flown over one million guests into Langkawi to date this year, and anticipates the number to grow even more with this new route.
AirAsia is also working closely with the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) to establish Langkawi as an international hub and promote the beautiful island as a top holiday destination to Chinese visitors.
Flight AK 1713 was greeted with a water canon salute upon arrival at the Langkawi International Airport and received by LADA’s Chief Executive Officer, Azizan Noordin.
The new thrice weekly direct flight marks AirAsia’s third international route from Langkawi, besides Singapore and Guangzhou, and seventh from Langkawi besides Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching, Singapore, and Guangzhou.
To celebrate the momentous event, AirAsia is offering a promotional all-in-fare from US$46 (RM200) one way from Langkawi to Shenzhen for the travel period of between now and Feb 8, 2018.
Sited just across the border from Hong Kong, Shenzhen is a modern miracle with a vibrant economy and sprawling landscape. One of the richest and most populous cities in China, it is filled with theme parks and attractions galore.
AirAsia now flies to seven destinations from Langkawi, with four domestic and three international routes with 119 one way weekly flights. AirAsia also connects Langkawi to 15 countries such as Vietnam, South Korea, and Taiwan via its Fly-Thru product.
