Arab Transportation Authority Impressed with Prasarana's Performance

By Rhoma Ahmad Razali MAKKAH, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The Saudi Arabia Public Transport Authority (PTA) is impressed with the performance of Syarikat Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) in handling the operations of the haj pilgrim train, Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro Southern Line (MMMSL), since two years ago. This is based on the outstanding performance achieved by Prasarana during the period, at 110 per cent for train movement and 97 per cent for passenger satisfaction. As such, PTA, the body responsible for monitoring public transportation in the country, is of the opinion that Prasarana, which has entered the final phase of its train operation contract, should be given the opportunity to continue handling MMMSL. This was stated by PTA president Dr Rumaiah al-Rumaiah during a meeting with Prasarana Integrated Management & Engineering Services (PRIME) chief executive officer Masnizam Hisham in Riyadh several days ago. Meanwhile, Masnizam said Prasarana was optimistic of their opportunity to continue their contract despite facing expected contenders from three European train operation companies and was ready to hold talks with related authorities in Saudi Arabia, including the Ministry of Haj. Prasarana, a Malaysian public transportation company had been awarded a three-year contract for the operation of the MMMSL train in 2015, involving a contract value of RM911 million. -- BERNAMA
