PM WANTS MPs TO SUGGEST MEASURES TO TACKLE ECONOMIC WOES

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has asked all members of parliament to come up with appropriate recommendations to takle the economic slowdown when debating the motion of thanks on the address of the Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin starting Tuesday.

Ruling Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) information chief Ahmad
Maslan said the prime minister told members of parliament that their
recommendations could be included in the mini budget to be tabled by Deputy
Prime Minister Najib Razak on March 10.

"The prime minister stressed that we need to give emphasis on the economy as
the world is facing a slowdown.

"He wants us to share our views and experience in our respective areas in
tackling the economic problem," he told reporters after attending a briefing
session with the prime minister Monday.

The second session of the 12th parliament was opened by King Monday.
