AZERBAIJANI AMBASSADOR MEETS CHIEF OF TURKISH PARLIAMENT`S COMMISSION

Ankara, February 16 (AzerTAc). Zakir Hashimov, Azerbaijani ambassador in Turkey, met
here with Murat Mercan, chairman of the commission for foreign relations of the
Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
The sides discussed Turkey-Azerbaijan bilateral ties. Zakir Hashimov expressed
concern over the latest media reports concerning Turkey-Azerbaijan relations. The
diplomat briefed Mercan on the ongoing talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He
noted the reports saying Turks gave up Karabakh, plan of conflict resolution
(Hurriyet newspaper, Liberty radio) contradict existing principles of historical
friendship and fraternity between the two nations.
Murat Mercan said such kind of reports is sabotage. According to him, rapprochement
between Armenia and Azerbaijan is possible only if Armenia gives up 1915 Genocide
allegations, frees occupied Azerbaijani territories and recognizes Turkish borders.
