MALAYS MUST FOCUS ON THE ECONOMY - PPIM
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) has urged the Malays to focus on the economy and appreciate the sacrifice of past leaders by avoiding conflict due to political difference.
It supported the view of King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin
on overplay of racial issues and wanted the people to study the country's
formation and independence history.
"The sovereignty of the Malay rulers must be protected as it is the
symbol of the dignity of the Malays. Those who question this are unfit to be
called Malaysians.
"Racial conflict will not benefit anyone except those with a personal
agenda," said PPIM project director Noor Nirwandy Mat Noordin here Tuesday.
Meawnhile, the Selangor Orang-Orang Besar Daerah welcomed and supported the
statement by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on the
political situation in Perak.
Its chairman, Baharin Mat Akhir said the people should understand and
adhere to the administration system based on a parliamentary democracy and a
constitutional monarchy.
"Anyone who opposes this system can be considered as traitors to the
country," he said in a statement here Tuesday.
