STRENGTHENING OF RELATIONS BETWEEN EUROPE AND ISLAMIC WORLD MEETS OUR INTEREST, PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV

Baku, February 18 (AzerTAc). Numerous events are held in Azerbaijan on the sideline
of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, ISESCO and European structures,
President Ilham Aliyev said in the opening ceremony of "Baku - the Capital of
Islamic Culture 2009” culture year. “It is very important. Strengthening of
relations between Europe and the Islamic world meets our interest,” added the
President.
The Head of State noted “as an independent country Azerbaijan tries with its policy,
practical work to bring the Islamic world closer, and strengthen the Islamic
solidarity.” President Ilham Aliyev underlined “we should support each-other,
closely cooperate in political, economic spheres.”
The President said “unity, solidarity of Islamic countries within international
organizations including the United Nations is of significant importance. Our joint
initiatives aim to ensure peace, security, prosperity across the world, not to allow
wars, reinforce the dialogue among civilizations and thus lead to results adequate
for all of us. Azerbaijan`s role in these issues increase gradually.”
