AZERBAIJAN READY TO CONTRIBUTE TO ALL ISLAMIC COUNTRIES TO PROTECT THEIR INTERESTS, PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV
Baku, February 18 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to all Islamic
countries to protect their interests, said President Ilham Aliyev in the opening
ceremony of "Baku - the Capital of Islamic Culture 2009” culture year.
The Head of State thanked those countries, including the Islamic ones for their
voting in favor of the UN General Assembly`s resolution on the situation in the
occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
The President said the document was adopted by a majority of votes, though major
countries including ones which deal with settlement of the conflict voted against.
The President stressed that majority of 39 countries voted for the document was
Muslim countries. “All these are the results of the Islamic solidarity and our
common policy,” the Head of State noted.
