MALAYSIAN REPRESENTATIVES TOLD TO EXPLOIT ICT FULLY
PUTRAJAYA, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Sidek
Hassan Wednesday urged Malaysian representatives and other government
agencies abroad to fully exploit the advancements made in the information and
telecommunications technology (ICT) in discharging their duties.
He said ICT applications such as the e-mail and other related systems should
be utilised to give immediate and responsive feedback to clients as well as
stakeholders.
"The use of the ICT not only enables any transaction to be carried out after
office hours, it also enables decisions and feedback to be communicated outside
office hours or without having to be in the office.
"This method of working is crucial for Malaysian representatives abroad so
that important information could be relayed immediately for mutual benefits,
thus helping to improve the government's delivery system," he said at the
closing of the Workshop on Managing Government Representatives and Other
Agencies Abroad Based on the Integrated Organisation Concept, at the Putrajaya
International Conventional Centre (PICC), here Wednesday.
Mohd Sidek said the various government departments and agencies overseas
must work more closely with the embassies in coordinating their daily routine,
especially in tackling current challenges.
