Dh600m hospital for women and children in capital

Abu Dhabi, Feb 19, 2009 (WAM) - A world-class hospital for women and children, Danat Al Emarat, being built in the capital at a cost of Dh600 million will be ready in early 2011.
The hospital will be located in the Armed Forces Officers City in Mohammad bin Zayed City.
Mohammad Ali Al Shorafa, managing director and CEO of United Eastern Medical, told “Khaleej Times” on Tuesday that the hospital would be the first of its kind for women and children in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. United Eastern Medical (UEM) is Abu Dhabi’s leading healthcare investment and development company and Danat Al Emarat is its flagship project.
UEM is holding a series of specialty workshops in relation to the project. The first workshop, titled ‘Healing Environments’, was held on Tuesday to review the steps taken to implement international standards at the hospital.
The 21-storey hospital will have 260 beds, in addition to seven royal suites and 15 suites for VIPs. More than 40 doctors will be appointed under the supervision of Singapore-based Park Way Health Company. The other staff will number 1,350. Every woman delivering a baby will have a separate room which will be quiet. The patient will be able to see the landscape, which will make her calm and comfortable.
