'Lesson from Disaster' Among Local Documentary to be Screened During 10th KLEFF
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- A documentary on natural disasters in this region, titled ‘Lesson from Disaster’ is among the local documentaries to be screened in conjunction with the 10th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF), for one week beginning Monday, at the Publika Mall here in the capital city.
KLEFF director Fadly Bakhtiar said the documentary showed natural disasters in Asian countries including Malaysia such as the Tsunami and typhoon Haiyan among 86 films from 23 countries that were selected to be screened during the film festival.
He said among other local documentaries to be shown were ‘Operation Sumatran Rhino’, ‘Poachers to Protectors’, ‘The Master Weaver’ and ‘The Art of Nature: A documentary of Orang Asli’s archaic crafts’.
“There are five categories to be contested namely: full-length documentary, short documentary, animation, advertisement and feature film. The selection of the films will be based on the environmental related message, creativity, storytelling and cinematography,” he said.
Fadly said about of 6,000 visitors were expected to attend the film festival.
Besides that, exhibitions would be conducted at the festival by the government and private agencies which are involved in the development of nature conservation programmes.
