PAKISTAN TO BENCHMARK M'SIAN FAMILY PLANNING
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- A high-level delegation from Pakistan's Population Welfare Ministry will arrive here on Sunday, to observe success stories in reproductive health and family planning.
The six-member delegation is headed by ministry secretary Nayyar Agha.
In a statement Friday, the Pakistan High Commission said that during the
three-day visit, the delegation would hold meetings with women, family and
community development ministry secretary-general, national population and family
development board director-general and family health and development division
director.
It said Pakistan intended to replicate the best practices and success
stories in Malaysia's reproductive health and family planning to reduce
population growth, fertility rate, increase contraceptive prevalence rate and
introduce special initiatives in family planning.
The statement added that the visit was in pursuance of the Pakistan prime
minister's speech during World Population Day commemorated on July 11, last
year.
In that speech, the prime minister had directed Pakistan to study and learn
from experiences of Muslim countries which reduced the population growth rate
and succeeded in reducing maternal and child mortality.
