‘ARMENIA MUST NORMALIZE ITS RELATIONS WITH TURKEY AND AZERBAIJAN IF WANTS TO INTEGRATE INTO EU`S EASTERN PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM’
Paris, February 21 (AzerTAc). France-based daily newspaper “Armenian news” published in its February 20 edition an article on a meeting held between Czech foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg and his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.
According to the article, during the meeting Schwarzenberg said to Nalbandian that
if Armenia wants to integrate into EU`s Eastern Partnership program, it must
normalize its relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The Czech minister also expressed hope for progress in Armenian-Turkish relations
and peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Schwarzenberg pointed out that the European Union is interested in carrying out
political and economic reforms in post-Soviet republics within the Eastern
partnership program.
He also called on the Armenian officials to conduct dialogue with local opposition
parties and to liberate those who have been imprisoned for political motivations.
