KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- About 200 young politicians and student and youth movement leaders are expected to attend the International Conference of Youth on Terrorism here from Feb 25 to 28.

The conference is jointly hosted by the Information Ministry and the Youth
and Sports Ministry in collaboration with the Malaysian National Commission of
UNESCO.

The International Division of the Information Ministry said in a statement
that the main objective is to allow youth leaders to discuss perceptions
regarding terrorism and identify issues on the ground including its root causes.

It is also to allow youths to have their voices heard by decision-makers in
addressing this scourge, thus contribute towards global peace, stability and
harmony, it said.

Panel speakers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Philippines, France,
Morocco and Malaysia are expected to share their respective expertise, views and
unique experiences in dealing with the phenomenon.

The statement said Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is
scheduled to open the conference while Information Minister Ahmad Shabery
Cheek will officiate the closing ceremony.

The highlight of the conference would be an address by Regent Prince of
Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah.
