PSDC, INDIA`S CDC TO DEVELOP SKILL CONSULTANTS
BY P.VIJIAN
NEW DELHI, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian agency is teaming up with
India's Consultant Development Centre (CDC) to enhance consultancy skills,
namely in the construction sector.
The Professional Services Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (PSDC), under the
Ministry of Finance, would soon renew an expired memorandum of understanding
(MoU) with the Delhi-based CDC, to officially exchange expertise, especially at
a time when economies are suffering.
"Under the present global economic conditions, a collaboration with India
will be very useful for both countries. For example, India has certain
capabilities as in the railways sector and Malaysia, in building highways.
"India is also strong in West Asia and so is Malaysia. Collaboration will
give an advantage to both," PSDC president Ir Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid told
Bernama.
Ahmad, who led a delegation to Delhi, held discussions with CDC officials to
renew the MoU by June this year, which would strengthen the partnership in
developing world-class consultants.
"We had signed a MoU in 2004 but it lapsed. Under the MoU, we agreed to
exchange professional expertise, mainly in the construction sector related to
engineering, architecture and surveying.
"A new MoU will create a platform for business undertakings for Malaysian
and Indian consultants," added Ahmad.
Both agencies are involved in the training and skills upgrading of
consultants.
The PSDC was set up by the Finance Ministry in 2002 and placed the under
Works Ministry, to develop Malaysian professional services of international
standing.
