EGYPT SEEKS WIDE COOPERATION IN AGRICULTURE WITH D8 MEMBERS
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama)-- Egypt is hoping that it can engage in
multilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector with Developing Eight (D8)
member countries when the eight Muslim countries' agriculture ministers,
policymakers and business captains convene here Wednesday to push food security
initiatives over the next three days.
Egyptian Ambassador to Malaysia Hani Abdel Kader said though the eight
countries had diverse agriculture strengths and arable land, they had
a common interest -- to overcome the food crisis -- that had affected the whole
world especially the developing countries.
He said the D8 Ministers Meeting on Food Security would provide a conducive
atmosphere for participants to discuss and propose agriculture and food-related
projects.
"We hope to achieve not just bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and
Egypt but also multilateral cooperation involving all the eight countries,"
he told Bernama in an interview here Tuesday.
