AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT SIGNS DECREE TO STRENGTHEN FIGHT AGAINST MONEY LAUNDERING AND

Baku, 24 February (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan president Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree
to set up a Financial Monitoring Service under the National Bank to strengthen the
fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
According to the Presidential decree on the application of the “The law of the
Republic of Azerbaijan on prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing”,
the National Bank must submit, within a month, to the President a draft charter of
the Financial Monitoring Service.
The Cabinet of Ministers must submit, within two months, to the President a package
of proposals on bringing the country`s relevant legislation in conformity with the
Law.
