Qatar Chamber to Participate in OIC Commercial Exhibition in Kuwait

Doha, February 07 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber (QC) will participate in the international commercial exhibition for members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Chamber will be in the Qatari section alongside the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Qatar Financial Center (QFC), Manateq, as well as 13 private-sector companies. Qatar Chamber said in a statement today that it worked with the Ministry of Economy to facilitate the participation of the private sector in the exhibition, which began yesterday and will conclude on February 10. There will be a total of 30 countries taking part, which could provide an opportunity for exchanging ideas and exploring the scope for cooperation. President of the chamber HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani said that participating in the exhibition reflects QC's commitment to participating in different economic and commercial events related to enhancing cooperation between OIC members. It also reflects the strong ties between Qatar and Kuwait and the desire of Qatari businessmen to enhance their trade ties with their Kuwaiti counterparts, His Excellency added. The president of QC said that the exhibition also provides Qatari companies with a valuable opportunity to build strong partnerships with its Kuwaiti companies as well as the other ones representing the 30 countries. His Excellency also highlighted the success of the Qatari-Kuwaiti business Forum which was held last month when a Qatari business delegation visited Kuwait. His Excellency said that the visit succeeded in achieving its goal of enhancing cooperation with the private sector. His Excellency noted that trade volume between the two countries reached QR2.5 billion. Qatari imports from Kuwait increased markedly in 2017, rising to QR789.6 million from QR634.2 million. QC president said that Kuwaiti companies helped supply the Qatari market with many of its needs since the beginning of the unjust siege in the middle of last year. (QNA)
