AZERBAIJAN`s ECONOMY ENJOYED 2.6 PERCENT-INVESTMENT CLIMB IN 2008
Baku. February 27 (AzerTAc). Last year Azerbaijan`s economy saw an overall investment rise of 2.6 percent against 2007, according to the country`s State Statistical Committee.
The overall amount of investment made in the economy in 2008 made $6.85 million.
The majority of money, some 56.1 percent, came from direct investment, while 34.4
percent were released through loans by banks or financial organizations.
Last year also saw a 16.3-percent decline in foreign investment in oil and gas
sector, while the total volume of overall investment made in oil sector jumped 12.5
percent to reach $494.1 million.
