RECORD NUMBER OF FOREIGN CHEFS TO PART TAKE IN IFOODEX FOOD FAIR

PENANG (Malaysia), Marc 4 (Bernama) -- A record number of some 130 foreign chefs are to participate in "iFoodex", Malaysia's largest food fair, to be held at the Penang International Sports Arena on March 13.

Organising Committee chief executive officer Andrew S. Chan said besides
Malaysian chefs, cooks from Iran, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and the United
States are to showcase their food and kitchen products at the three-day fair.

"We expect a record crowd as the fair is hosted simultaneously with the 12th
Chefs' Competition and the opening of 100 foodstalls in northern Penang-state of
Peninsular Malaysia. Last year, 60,000 visitors turned up," he told reporters.

Andrew said more stallholders are also taking part this year than last year.
There are vacancies for 30 stalls.

Since health is closely linked to food, this year's fair will see
the participation of various food manufacturers such as Yakult,
YSP, CCM, Ecobrown, Sin Wah Thong, Yigaho, Green Image dan Melilea, he said.

"As in previous years, lucky visitors can take home free food parcels and
will have the chance to savour for free a wide spread of delicious food on
display from various countries," he said.

Stage performances and sale of foodstuff at attractive discounted prizes
would also be held, he added.
