9,297 UXO AND MINES DEMOLISHED IN FEBRUARY
Baku, 4 March (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has cleared the territory of 1 million 7 thousand 717 square km of 9,297 mines and UXO in February, 2009, press service of the Agency said. Reportedly, the operations involved 425 sappers, 115 assistants, 5 UXO operators and 30 mine detection dogs.
Mine clearing works underway in the territories of Tartar, Agdam, Fuzuli, Gazakh and
Agstafa regions.
In February, a group of the Agency’s UXO sappers identified and neutralized a
projectile near the Baku-Tbilisi highway and a PQ-9 missile at the territory of
Tartar Culture House.
