Macau chief executive meets PM

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - Chief Executive of Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China Chui Sai On called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and both sides confirmed determination to boost comprehensive cooperation, especially on economic affairs. Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said Mr Chui Sai On was the first top executive of Macau to visit Thailand in a decade. He led Macau businesspeople to sign two memorandums of understanding to develop relations with Phuket and the Commerce Ministry. “The prime minister praised the stability and growth of Macau. Thailand is ready to develop comprehensive and concrete cooperation with Macau, especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment. Macau can be Thailand’s gateway to southern China and Thailand can be Macau’s gateway to Southeast Asia,” Lt Gen Werachon said. Both countries agreed to cooperate on tourism especially after the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and Thailand was interested in cooperation related to the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, he said.
