OSCE PERMANENT COUNCIL DISCUSSES RECENT SHOOTING INCIDENT DURING MONITORING ON LINE
Vienna March 5 (AzerTAc). OSCE Permanent Council has held a discussion on a shooting
incident which took place on February 26 in Fizuli region on the line of contact in
the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan during a monitoring mission
carried out by Representative of the Chair-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.
The meeting
was held in presence of OSCE Minsk group co-chairs.
American co-chair of the group Mathew Bryza condemned the shooting incident, and
called the parties to adhere to the ceasefire.
Head of Azerbaijan`s Permanent Mission to the OSCE, Ambassador Fuad Ismayilov said
“the fact that the fire was opened when Mr. Kasprzyk was on the Azerbaijani side of
the contact line clearly demonstrates that the ceasefire was violated by Armenians.”
He said Azerbaijan had repeatedly stated that what the attention should be paid to
is which side had violated the ceasefire.
Ismayilov also demanded from Kasprzyk to investigate such incidents. He said it must
be unambiguously stated that the Azerbaijani side had never violated the ceasefire
and is absolutely not interested in doing this.
Ismayilov underlined “it is Armenia that violates the ceasefire with the aim to
provoke an adequate reaction from Azerbaijan.”
“The fact that ceasefire violations are not investigated creates conditions for the
continuation of such incidents, and Azerbaijan calls to stop such sabotages”.
