M'SIANS IN BANGKOK ASKED TO FURTHER ENHANCE PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE TIES
FROM SURIATI SIDEK AHMAD
BANGKOK, March 11 (Bernama) -- King Tuanku Mizan Zainal
Abidin Tuesday night urged Malaysians in Bangkok to continue to be active
socially in the interest of progress of both Thailand and Malaysia.
Tuanku Mizan said he was happy to note that the Malaysian Club in Bangkok
was engaged in various social activities to enhance people-to-people ties while
the Malaysia-Thailand Chamber of Commerce (MTCC) was doing the same where
commerce was concerned.
"I hope all Malaysians living in Thailand will uphold the good name and
image of Malaysia and also continue to show respect to the culture and way of
life of the local community in all matters," he said at a banquet with the
Malaysian community organised by the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok in conjunction
with His Majesty's visit to Thailand. It was held at the embassy's multipurpose
hall.
Tuanku Mizan and Queen Tuanku Nur Zahirah arrived here
Monday for a four-day visit at the invitation of Thai King Bhumibol
Adulyadej. This their majesties third visit to an Asean nation after Laos and
Cambodia last year.
Also present were Works Minister Mohd Zin Mohamed, who is the
Minister-in-Attendance and Malaysia's Ambassador to Thailand, Husni Zai
Yaakob.
