INDONESIA, SINGAPORE INK WESTERN MARITIME BORDER




JAKARTA, March 11 (Bernama) -- Indonesia and Singapore Tuesday signed a
treaty to demarcate the maritime border between both countries in the west near
the Nipa and Tuas islands, according to Indonesia's Antara news agency.

The signing of the agreement was done between Indonesia's Foreign Minister
Hassan Wirajuda and his Singaporean counterpart George Yeo at Indonesia's
Foreign Ministry here.

Hassan was quoted by the agency as saying following this success, the two
countries could look forward to entering into a similar treaty for the eastern
maritime border.

The signing Tuesday was the culmination of negotiations that took place
since 2005.
